What's better than a movie about Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman?

A movie about Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman, the Gambit I've anxiously awaited during the 3 X-men parts to be played by Taylor Kitsch, and Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool, an anti-hero known for his wisecracks (how Ryan Reynolds can you possibly get?).

Lest you don't understand yet my excitement, let me help you visualize a bit better:

Taylor Kitsch as Gambit
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If that hasn't got you excited, Jackman says, and I quote, at a comic convention to expect to "see a lot of beserker rage". Full news article here:

Here's an interview clip on the one making all this come into fruition:

Wolverine and Gambit have always been my two favorite characters in X-Men so I'm pretty psyched to see the film next year! Here are some things that I want in the movie:

1. Some Gambit and Rogue because I've always adored these two in the very original cartoon series. Just make sure they use the older Rogue and not the young Rogue in the X-men trilogy

2. The rage. Yeah. Bring it on.

3. Lots of action sequences.

4. Lots of Ryan Reynolds camera time.

5. A deeper glimpse into Wolverine's messed up past.

6. Gambit saying "Mah Cherie", just the way he said it in the original cartoon series.

7. Hugh Jackman in all his mutton chop, kick arse glory.

8. Deadpool's story, because I must admit I know little about him.

Can't wait for 2009!

Twilight Bracelet - wolf charm's not made of wood

September 2011 UPDATE
Here are two lovely completed bracelets, featuring one of the wooden wolf charms I show below PLUS the heart charm Edward gave Bella, so you can have both Jacob and Edward close to you. But if you're a Jacob purist, go ahead and scroll a but downwards to get just the wolf charm ;)

September 19, 2010 UPDATE
Hi all! I'm happy to announce that I found three Amazon listings selling wolf charms made from actual wood (HURRAY!!!), each with its own take on it.

The first one is my favorite, because it shows the 3D wooden wolf on an upright position, almost howling at the moon, and the color is the same hue I imagined in my head while I read it on the book. It's pretty perfect!!! :D The price is $25 and I consider that a pretty good deal already, esp. as someone who's scoured the net for AGES looking for one that fit my standards. Click on the image below to buy it:

The second one is also a 3D wooden wolf charm - the eyes are closed and he's sorta curled up. The reviews are pretty good but the price is quite steep, at $40!

The third one also features a howling wooden wolf, but it's 2D. The color is great, the level of detailing is just right, and it's very cheap at $5.

***************

OLD NEWS: Woah. Apparently, the Eclipse wolf charm bracelet on Hot Topic is now SOLD OUT! It was sold out, just like that! Was planning on ordering another piece for a friend, but I guess it's too late now :( I guess the cheap $20 tag on the charm bracelet and the huge success the Eclipse movie enjoyed made it such a fast moving commodity.

***************

The Twilight fandom has been in quite a flurry, looking for the Twilight bracelet, the one that Jacob and Edward had given to Bella. I was also extremely excited to find myself one, but I was a bit disappointed to find out that the wolf charm in the official Twilight bracelet is not made of wood. :(

The beauty of the bracelet, for me, rests in the sheer fact that the wolf charm was handcrafted by Jacob. The wooden charm gives the bracelet a rustic quality that I associate with the werewolf. To replace it with a copper charm makes it less authentic and more commercialized.

Twilight Teezers explains the reason behind this change, and I quote:
6 - How come the wolf charm isn’t made of wood?

This is probably the most anticipated question relating to our interpretation of the bracelet. The answer is very simple; wood is too fragile. We consulted with Stephenie on what she had in mind for the actual design of the wolf charm. The design she showed us was a very detailed, near-scale wolf pendant. After some research we determined that a wood charm as small and intricate as the one she demonstrated would break far too easily. The only way to mass produce such a charm would be to use a wood-based casting material, which does not have the strength necessary to withstand the normal wear and tear that this bracelet could receive. The head, feet, and tail would be likely to break off. And it simply would be impractical to hand-carve a wolf out of a stronger wood material for every bracelet we sold. So we decided to make it out of copper. This is[sic] allows us to mass produce the bracelet in a timely fashion while still maintaining the strength needed and keeping the color tone that we were looking for. We would have loved to make it out of wood, but we felt durability and long-term satisfaction with the product was far more valuable to our customers. Had the wolf been a more stylized piece, it might have been different. We went with the official vision that Stephenie had.

I understand their line of reasoning, but at the exorbitant $65 price they're offering it at, I can't help but look twice at that line above that I highlighted in bold. I don't want to make accusations here, I am just still disappointed. Couldn't it have been possible for them to create a less detailed wooden wolf charm OR couldn't they have scaled it a little larger so that the details would be easier to make?

** THIS JUST IN!!! I just found out Hot Topic is selling the Eclipse bracelet (with the wolf charm and crystal heart), and it costs just $20, which is much cheaper than the $65 it was priced at in my above statement. This definitely makes the fact that the wolf charm is not made out of wood more forgivable. Unfortunately, it seems like the Eclipse wolf charm bracelet is out of stock right now.

Wanted

When I first watched the Wanted trailer, I had an inkling that the show was just going to be about mindless killing and kick-arsery. And I was all for that when I went to watch this movie. The show delivered... and then some.

The show revolves around Wesley (James McAvoy), a guy who hates his boss, hates his job, has a best friend who sleeps with his annoying girlfriend, a guy who has to take anxiety medications... a guy who pretty much thinks his life is f*ed up. When Fox (Angelina Jolie) suddenly appears in his life, he realizes that there is more to his life than living it aimlessly - that he can actually be something more than an account manager. And after rigorous, painful training, he becomes a highly-skilled professional assassin and earns a purpose in life.

In the end, however, it's not the fact that he is an assassin that saves his existence. Instead, it is the gained knowledge that he can take control of his life - something that struck a chord in me. It makes you wonder if you really are doing what you want to do, or if you're just living life one routine at a time. Clearly, the movie made me ask myself: "What the f*ck have you done lately?"
