Twilight Book 5! Midnight Sun
Okay, I have to apologize. When I posted the previous article, I had absolutely no idea that a book 5 was actually already in the works. It turns out that Stephenie was indeed writing book 5, which she entitled Midnight Sun. The book focuses on Twilight as told by Edward. Notice that I write this in past tense. This is because she has decided to postpone writing this book indefinitely. Why? Someone leaked out part of it to the Internet, leaving a distraught Stephenie Meyer to lose interest in continuing.
If you want to read the draft of book 5, she has graciously uploaded it on to her website. Click here for Twilight Book 5 - Midnight Sun. It's too bad really, since I think the book would have been a big hit. It has a lot of potential, and since it's from Edward's POV, I bet it is going to be a more profound read compared to Bella's POV.
I'm off to reading the draft and will come back for my thoughts :)
UPDATE: JAN 18, 2011: Still no word on Twilight Book 5 Midnight Sun over at her official blog. :( Anyone know some great Edward POV fanfics?

Is it just me or did Stephenie Meyer just place the Midnight Sun playlist on her site just a few weeks ago? I don't recall seeing the Playlist section before, did you? If that is the case then I have higher hopes that Stephenie will indeed finish Twilight Book 5 Midnight Sun! Perhaps she's trying to relive her Twilight muse by posting that? ;)
Also, check out this line she said at the playlist page!
WHEN/IF is definitely miles better than just IF. :)

OMG!!! that pisses me off. im so mad at whoever put parts of midnight sun out on the internet. i refuse to read the draft until the midnight sun comes out for real. please tell stephanie meyers to finish wrighting it.
THe person who leaked it on the internet was her sister. How could she. Her sister should be put in jail.

Im one of the few guys i know who read the books, and i would not feel so tremendously out of place if it were a guys POV this time.
I didn't realize the leak was from Stephenie's sister... sad. Makes me wonder if that was maliciously intentional (Rozz??) or just not thinking.
My understanding is that Midnight Sun is now a go-ahead deal. WHEW!!
Still can't figure entirely why this series has caught my attention so much. Perhaps the romance between Edward and Bella is so pure- not many things like that in the real world.
Maybe Stephenie will become a vampire so she will never end the series?!?
I think that she should definately make it into a tv series!! Just like Desperate house wives,Lost, Greys anatomy... The story can go on for ever!! and im pretty sure the people want to see MORE!! She would kill it..!! Think about that one stephanie :)
wow! A tv show about Twilight sounds interesting, I hope the cast stays the same though, I dont think it will have the same charm if Edward Cullen is replaced by someone else. I'm really sad to hear that it was her sister who leaked Midnight Sun Twilight Book 5. It's utterly disappointing to hear.
Are you sure it's a go already??? Based on stepheniemayer.com it seems that there are no updates about Midnight Sun pushing through.
I love the Twilight story so much!!! I bought the DVD and find myself watching it, or some part of it, everyday. This story is truely written with such compassion that is not found in love stories today anymore. I read the books and find that even though movies never quite make it up to the level of the book, this movie was pretty close. Please Stephenie, please finish MidnightSun. The story from Edward's perspective is definitely something the public would appreciate and love thoroughly.

I totally agree, twilight is a beautiful series and it shouldn't be stopped because some idiot leaked it. I can understand stephanie's feelings tho and hope that she can overcome this and continue writing what will no doubt be a beauiful and thrilling story.
She has a right to not post the next book yet but I agree to tell her to finish it's killing me!
All 4 of the books were great. i loved every minute of reading them all and the end was everything i'd hoped it'd be...for her to keep dragging this on to a 5th book like some bad remake of the star wars series would just be too bad : ( I'd never read it. she should concentrate on writing a new novel...totally seperate from the Twilight novels...i'd read anything else written by her...she's very talented.
I think that midnight sun definitely should be completed and I too refuse to read it until it comes out for real! I think that Stephanie Meyer is an amazingly talented writer and she has the right to continue her work when she wants! Even though I hope she does finish it soon! I have read all 4 books 4 times each and I have only had the books for 2 months so I too would say I am obsessed! I love Twilight and hope she finishes midnight sun and writes each book through Edwards’s point of view too! I would love that and I’m sure that I’m not alone on that! Well all we can do is hope now! So just keep up the hope!
My children brought home the movie Twilight for me to watch one night and that was it. I was hooked. I watched it 3 more time and then one Saturday afternoon I bought book 2 and read it by Monday night. The next day I went and got Books 3 & 4 and had them both read before the following Sunday. I have become an addict to this series and cannot wait for Book 5 to arrive. And yes, I run two business with my husband and only have my evenings to read, sometimes till the words were so blurry I had to put the book down and go to bed. Believe me, not out of choice! oh please please Stephanie, i beg you to finish the book, i know there are spoilers but you have a lot of fans that love you for your wonderful talent in writting.All the Twillight books was awsome.Even with the leaked out info, alot of us are not going to read it until the book is finish,so please once again,think about all of us who are waiting, i will be.
I read Twilight first as a 'taste' since I wasn't sure what to expect. It wasn't enough, I needed to read more. I brought the box set (nice ones too) and I've just finished them (about 10 mins ago), I got them last Sunday, in all of 5 days I finished the other three novels. I cant believe how much I enjoyed them and I would love to read the 5th or perhaps alternate off-shoots. I'm sure Stephanie would agree that while Twilight was 'her' baby so to speak, like everyone else around little Nessie, we all feel drawn towards this wonderful and compelling saga. Thank you for writing this for us.

You know what, I think I'm pretty hopeful that Twilight book 5 will come out. She posted a playlist for midnight sun, I believe just a few weeks ago. If she wasn't interested in the Midnight Sun project anymore and was that heartbroken about it, I don't think she would have uploaded the playlist. I think she's trying to get her Twilight muse back so let's cross our fingers because an Edward POV book is really going to be intriguing :)
TWILIGHT...series. Stephenie Meyer has well wrote her words. Endless nights and days which have been hand written with her devotion has sincerely proven herself. It would be nothing less than pure sadness to befall such wonderful words to be proclaimed.
To her sister...Why? I ask. To put your sister threw such a tragic...mind set. And worse to let her go threw it alone.
P.S. Nothings over until the fat lady sings. An apology is needed. And I really hope things work out. This series has give many hopes and dreams for many lives... to think or even believe there can be the true love out there... even for slightest moment ... makes a difference--- in the BEST of ways possible.

Apparently there's not really a way to contact the author... I'm not a reader but I read the series in 5 days. I'm looking foward to read the rest of the book Midnight Sun.
But honestly speaking I did read the Breaking Down and I did fell that the end was not really the end... was missing so much info in their lifes... I did get a little frustrated when I notice I did not had more books to read about the story.
If this message reach the author I would like to say that the idea of the continuation of the story would be really good for her own carrier and for us. I haven't read a book in 4 years. Lieing, I read one. For me to read the four books the way I read, yes... I DO LIKE your writing and that proven by the way it has been selling.
Would be interesting if you took the time and make the series as Harry Potter... they are always waiting for another book to come up...

I did fell in love with the characters... not only Edward and Bella, but Alice and the whole familly. With the life you gave them you have been influencing many lifes with a lot more then stories. U are blessed.

Sister? Until Meyers says it is, it's not. Family forgives and forgets. For me; after reading the draft on Meyer's sight, Edwards POV as memories etc. interwoven into the story line that continued; is better because it came across as a second book. Expanding the new characters is what I was expecting, as well as my kids and grand kids; their friends that have talked etc. But, I'd still buy it to finish the story line, but I'd want the half vamp/humane story told; the outdated volturi replaced or the war hinted about told etc? The story line can go on for a long time and be interesting, not repeating. Movies, series etc. When Edward had to eat (pizza), as we all knew ahead of time? Now, Meyers life is not fair, betrayal is a part of life. Humans steal, cheat etc. or we'd have no movies or books. To give up, not finish is immature. We all have to grow, to pout permanently, shows you need to grow as an author or person if you let it stop you. Read your spiritual books and draw from them to forgive, but to punish all of your fans? That is the immature part. Print the stolen version as a reprint with new information that shows Edwards POV and the Cullens etc. wright another 5th book and blow them all away with a surprise. You know that you can do it! So, get to it.
if you read her website now it says that she is indeed going to finish and publish the book. it does not say when, it just says that she will.
Honestly, I love the idea of a TV series BUT unless Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and the original PERFECT cast were the stars, it wouldn't be right IMO.

I think Stephenie should release the book 5. I hope to see the Midnight Sun as the best book of Twilight series so that people just forget about the leaked draft. And then this will be the best response to whoever leaked it in the internet.

I' am 33 years old and I was not interested in Twilight (I thought it was going to be for the tween croud) until I decided to check out the movie on TV, then I had to have the book! Once I read the book in 3 days (never done in my life) I had to have the other books I went out and bought the rest of the books in one day and read the final three in 4 days (WOW) I have never been able to to do that in my life...now I would have to say that I' am OBSESSED with the Twilight Saga and would love to read Edwards point of veiw!
I have only read the first two of the books, but i was hooked by chapter two of Twilight, i am having to restarin myself from number 3, just so i can concentrate on homework....however as you can see that isn't working...(i am currently reading the preview she has uploaded) last night my friend told me about this book and i got excited (naturally), however when i googled it i found out about all this. I am just so distraught.
This book would have had a lot of interest to every Twilight fan out there... I mean come on its Edwards point of view!!!! I would have loved to read ALL of the series in his point of view. even though i know whats going to happen in the end (and im sure im not the only one)... i hope that Stephenie doesn't let this betrayel of her trust from someone who has ruined it for the rest of us, keep her from continuing this fantastic series onwards... Fingers crossed aye guys :S

Keep the comments on this makeshift Midnight Sun Book Petition coming; as long as the buzz about the Twilight Book 5 is alive, Stephenie should be convinced to continue it. She just recently finished an offshoot book (Bree Tanner) so I hope she continues her Edward POV book already!
I am 48 yrs old and I never thought I would read books of this type.. but I did and I litterly just got home from seeing Eclipse with 2 friends... and all I can say is please, please finish Midnight Sun!!!! Your books touch the lives of so many people of all ages in soooo many ways.. Please continue your wonderful work, when I finished Book 4 I felt like I had lost my best friends, I had that "day after Christmas letdown" I was lost with your stories.. again please finish Midnight Sun!
I Personally Think Steph leaked the Draft herself and not this "sister" keeps "fans" lapping and buys her time out "to do other things" it's a marketing gimmick. Really, Steph should call it a day, live off the dollar and get a new "hobby"

So, don't some of you think you are being a bit harsh?! Yes, I love Twilight, and I have read the partial she posted, I would love to finish reading it, however, her rights were violated. No matter who did it, it was done. And I don't think those of you who are putting her down for not finishing it at this time truly understand the mind set an author must be in to write books such as these. You can't have the distraction. Imagine if she had chosen to finish the book immediately and due to her distractions the book was a major let down. This is the things you need to think about, she wasn't being selfish, nor immature, and definitely not trying to let fans down, it was exactly the opposite of that...she wants the book to be just as perfect as the rest, to hold up to the expiation of them. I am sure if one says they are a fan, they can be patient enough to let her work her magic. With that said, I commend her for putting it on hold.
