Finally Watched the Twilight Movie
And it was pretty good, all things considering. I was quite terrified that the movie was going to disappoint me tremendously, with stale or overly cheesy acting, or scenes that didn't depict the book enough. I was surprised to find out that the movie actually did a good job. The baseball scene was as fun as I pictured it, and Edward Cullen was as charming as I wanted him to be. This is considering I wasn't a Robert Pattinson fan in the beginning.
A lot of people argue that Robert Pattinson wasn't perfect enough, but I have to disagree profusely. First and foremost, note that he was perfect in Bella's eyes, not perfect in everybody's eyes. So personally, he was perfect in his flaws! The scene where Robert attempted to make conversation with Bella was pretty cute, or the way he was having a hard time reading Bella's mind. His pained expression was very endearing, and his short temper was also quite intense. The way he smiles is also adorable and I must say that I am now a Robert convert :)
Bella did a good job of acting as well. I imagined her to be like that: Stubborn, rebellious, but inherently clumsy and weak. And like her father, she has a hard time showing her emotions, so Kristen Stewart depicted it correctly in my eyes.
And Jacob Black? While I still cross my fingers that Steven Strait is going to replace him in Movie #2, Taylor Lautner was not half bad :P The only problem with Taylor playing Jacob, really, is that he is way too young, and since I always had a crush on Jacob in the book, I find it hard to translate it in the movie.
The way the vampires regarded Bella was pretty amusing. Alice's weakness towards Bella's blood during the battle was particularly humorous. The actress behind Alice really did a good job of making Alice as likeable as she was in the book. The human cast was also a very good bunch. They were very lively and fun. I surmise Eric's actor is going to be in Harold and Kumar 3, should there be one ;)
If I were to be nitpicky however, I'd point out several flaws and irks in the film:
1. The meadow scene was a bit too awkward for me.
The diamonds shining on Edward Cullen's chiseled, pale, vampire face were a bit too odd, those few seconds where they just looked at each other kinda seemed too forced and out of place.
2. The development of feelings between Bella and Edward was kinda hurried.
Somehow, Bella fell in love with Edward too quickly, but I guess this was because the movie could only be so long.
3. The action scene was as disappointing as the one in the book.
I hoped... no, expected actually, that the action scenes in the movie were going to be far more gripping and terrifying than how they were written in the book, but instead, I get this really short fight between Edward and James, which just showed the two snarling at each other. The blood and the whole crunch sounds Bella experienced were good, Alice breaking James' neck was pretty cool, but that's pretty much it.
4. Spider Monkey?
Nope. Didn't like that line at all. Haha.
5. Rosalie isn't pretty enough.
6. Jasper Hale = Edward Scissorhands?
Seriously, that look Jasper had during the majority of the film was a bit too quirky, if you ask me.

All in all, I'd give the movie a 7/10 :)

hehehe sorry for some reason, i totally remembered edward scissorhand when i saw jasper :P but dont get me wrong, im still a fan of his, i just hope he shows more of himself in the 2nd movie :)
haven't read it yet. is it any good? :D i plan to read it real soon!
i don't understand what is the appeal of Robert Pattinson (Edward); he has an unusually shaped nose
Personally, it's Robert Pattinson's charming smile and his charisma that really caught me. I didn't quite see it 100% in the Harry Potter movie, but he really shone here in Twilight. There is something different about him - and his imperfections just makes him even more appealing. Perhaps they are the same qualities that I found attractive in Edward Cullen :P
ummm nooo jasper hale=hot edward scissorhands=ugly
I like Jasper but, you crazy dudetts, Edward Sissorhands ROCKS. o_o Total win over Jasper... *pets Edward's fluffy hair*
yea pluus edward sissorhands iz way sexier...
Edward Scissorhands is Johnny Depp and therefore awesome in all ways.
Uhm, Edward scissorhand Is played by Johnny Depp, so I don't think so ;)
:) I thought that about Jasper, He does look like Edward Scissorhands except they are both played by diffrent actors. :) lol. I quite liked the action scenes, we watched how they did the action scene in the ballet studio and it was amazing. :D
OMG. Edward Scissorhands is Johnny Depp!
i have to say though; i kinda pictuered Edward as being a smooth-talking kinda guy and whenever Robert said his lines, i didnt get that feeling.
it might just be me but i think robert pattinson kinda reminds me of that guy chuck from gossip girl. who else thinks so? i really want to no.
omg!! jasper doees not look anything like edward sizorhand!
GO TEAM JASPER! PROTECTING JASPER FROM ALL NEGATIVE COMMENTS!
OMG I'M GONNA HURT all of yall who dog on Jasper Hale, ur just jelious that he's smexier than you!!!!!!!! Homos!!!! You look like Edward Scissorhands!!!! FYI, Rose fits the description, all of them are perfect. Ur just jelious. Twilight is the bestest movie I've ever seen.
I love Jasper but the movie in my opinion was not very good. There where important things that were not in the movie and there were things added that had nothing 2 do with the story. and what happened 2 Angela and Ben, and they were really important 2 the story. I cant remember but werent they supposed 2 be in Twilight or was that New Moon? i cant remember. i havent read the series in a while. And It would have been better i think if the movie was a bit darker. the music should have been darker. it would have made 4 a more satisfying moive.
edward scissorhand is jonny deep. jasper hale is my sweety, edward too. but i love jacob black, he is my real love!
I seriously was telling my friend last night that Jasper was like Edward Scissorhands. Then I stumbled accross your site this morning. Glad I'm nto the only one! It's almost like the director said, "Hey have you ever seen that movie? That's what we want."
jasper is SUPPOSED to be awkward and quiet in the beginning, like edward scissorhands. if i remember correctly, he's still getting used to not feeding on humans, so when he smells them he gets a kind of sick uncomfortable look, but he's trying to be nice and not awkward towards bella. hence, quirky awkward but adorable faces.
So what the movie wasn't as perfect as the book, but the things that Stephenie Meyer wrote are really hard to make in real life. It's not like you can just walk down the street and find super pale good looking people that can I act. Be happy you got a movie in the first place. Btw I am so happy taylor is playing jacob he is so hot.
Haha. I would say, I had a crush on Jacob too. I mean, he is SO cute in New Moon! LOL, and as for that Jasper thing you got rollin' there, I WOULDN'T EVEN THINK OF THEM 2 MEETING! Hey, edwardcullenandtwilightcrazy, I didn't know you could read EDWARDS POINT OF VIEW TOO! I like Jacob's, And Bella's is extremely... childish. but I can't wait for Midnight Sun to be realeased!
no he was not Edward scissor that was i think played by johnny depp. and jay is real nice guy and cute.
uhm, first of all, let me say that i agree with pretty much everything you said.
the movie was very disappointing, however, i also wasn't that pleased with the book either.
also, i agree, taylor was too young for the first movie, however, he shaped up for the second.
as for steven strait, he would have made a great jacob, but he may have been too old, and they definitely couldn't have switched out. that would just be dumb.
Haha, the Jasper/Edward Scissorhands thing was exactly what I was thinking throughout the movie too! No one else believed me though. But I still think they look alike... that expression on their faces.
In the book emmett has curly hair NOT a buzz cut. Also I was looking @ a poster the other day and noticed edward has this huge zit.
did u guys know that the character who plays seth in the 2nd movie's name is boo-boo.
Jasper is hot!!!!! The actor is Jackson rathbone, he is also in the movie "Big Stan" I will post a picture :). Btw, he just looks weird in twilight because he's suppossed to be a vampire duh
http://www.hotflick.net/flicks/2007_Big_Stan/007BSN_Jackson_Rathbone_005.jpg. Here is the picture, of Jackson rathbone(Jasper) being hot ;).
@allison wow that is a GREAT picture of him, I just realized that he was in fact in Big Stan, and he was quite adorable there :) I'm really excited for Jasper Hale in the Eclipse movie, I'm sure Jackson Rathbone's popularity is gonna soar further with the upcoming movie installment.
